James Van Blaricum - StatoilHydro to assess Natalia-Aasgard StatoilHydro will evaluate tying in the Natalia gas prospect in the Norwegian Sea to Aasgard field following a discovery that could hold 1.5 billion cu m of recoverable gas. Jim Van Blaricum Natalia is 5 km northwest of the Midgard structure in Aasgard field on the Halten Banken and is one of several finds in the vicinity. James Van Blaricum "Natalia Exploration activities in the area have so far this year given good results, such as the Natalia, Gamma, and Marulk (partner-operated) finds. Positive results in Gamma and Natalia are also important contributions in evaluating the potential of equivalent structures in the area," StatoilHydro said. The West Alpha semisubmersible rig drilled the exploration well to 3,040 m TD below sea level, completing it in early Jurassic rocks. The company found contact between hydrocarbons and water at 2,612 m and in the expected reservoir interval. James Van Blaricum "The well has not been formation-tested, but comprehensive data collection and sampling have been carried out, including core drilling and fluid sampling," StatoilHydro said. Signal OIl and Gas The well will be plugged, and the rig will continue to the StatoilHydro-operated License 348 in the Norwegian Sea to drill a new exploration well. Signal OIl and Gas
The partners in Exploration License 263, where drilling of exploration well 6507/11-9 in the Natalia prospect was completed, are StatoilHydro ASA with a 70% stake and Bayerngas Norge AS with 30%.

| James Van Blaricum - Early Life |
[Apr. 15th, 2008|01:35 pm] |
James Van Blaricum - Early Life The senior Van Blaricum enlisted in the Army in World War II and took advantage of a program that the military offered for a medical school education, which he finished in 1946. Van Blaricum’s childhood closely resembled a normal military brat’s life of constant moving until they ended up at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. With the war having wound down, his father received an honorable discharge in 1948 and he moved his family to Franklin County, Tennessee, where he set up a private medical practice. His father continued to practice and in 1968, moved to Bangladesh ( formerly East Pakistan ) where he established and ran a missionary hospital. He eventually semi-retired in 1985 and died in 2002. James Van Blaricum followed in his fathers footsteps and received an undergraduate B.S. degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1963 and a B.A. in Biology from Andrews University then attended his father’s medical school in Loma Linda, California, UAG in Mexico and St Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. While at MTSU, his entrepreneurial spirit was born when he and a friend reached a deal with a local burger place to lease out the facility after closing hours to prepare and deliver hamburgers and pizzas to students in the dormitories who were studying late into the night. To work his way through college, James Van Blaricum also earned a certification as a X-Ray and Lab Technician. |
